TV political editor flies into rage over defecating dog

Newsnight’s political editor Michael Crick, 53, was recording his slot on the BBC1 show on College Green opposite the Houses of Parliament when Molly trotted in to view.

The five year-old collie then proceeded to do her doggy business on the manicured lawn before bounding away. Enraged Crick marched over to Molly’s owner Freya Booth, 16, and demanded she clear it up. And when Freya failed to produce a pooper scooper, he launched into a rant at her and her friend Francesca Lindsay, 18.

Student Freya said: “He had a real go at me and said it was ‘very irresponsible to let your dog s**t in a public place like that’. And when I said I was planning to pick it up, he called me a liar. He was really angry.”

Eventually the girls found a plastic bag to clear up Molly’s mess. Freya, who lives with her parents in Westminster, said: “I do see the funny side.” Crick, who is moving to Channel 4 News, said: “One had the cheek to say they were entitled to let their dog do that on the green as they lived nearby. But they cleared it up in the end.”
