A bat caused a disturbance during the selectmen's meeting in Epping, New Hampshire, this week. "We had a guest drop down the staircase here in our building - a fairly large bat - and it came in and it was a comedy of errors, to be very honest with you," Selectman James McGeough said. About 46 minutes into the town hall meeting, the bat began to fly near the heads of the selectmen.
Board Chairman Karen Falcone took cover beneath a red folder. “There was a bit of a frenzy. I called for a recess, but they chose to keep filming, and the bat was chased out the door, eventually," Falcone said. One person grabbed an umbrella as they tried to get the bat outside.

The bat left the room after about two minutes, and the meeting continued the discussion about placing a no-right-turn sign on Depot Road. Town officials said the bats live in the tower above town hall and have often made appearances in the upstairs theatre.
