Yes, but the people in the USA are crazy, I know, I used to go out with one of them, but that was only because she was gorgeous, I have grown since. The site "Nothing To Do With Arbroath" is named after a town in the U.K., called, funnily enough, Arbroath, ...and the signs on the pillars are in Europe (still hacking to find out exactly where) so it follows to anyone with logic, that the word litre should be spelt litre. The mention of the word liter as an ignition tool was an attempt at humor, as was that. Re-arrange these letters...U H D ! Thank.

I'd bet this is from Lion Beer in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It looks like their logo at the top.
I vaguely remember that at some point there actually was some story concerning Arbroath - the name of the site is a lie. Also, WilliamRocket displays astounding abilities as a clearvoyant if he really can tell this picture is from Europe. Also, that certainly isn't German on the second pillar, and claiming the third one is written in Spanish is another sign of a clearvoyant. Or a troll.
I recall a video post with the song "Welcome to Arbroath." The refrain said, "welcome to Arbroath. You might accidentally get killed." That gets stuck in my head surprisingly often.
So how does one pronounce "litre"? I'm curious, since you Brits seem to find an extra letter in the word "aluminum" -- one which the rest of the English-speaking world can't see.
I suspect the error might have come from a "mishearing" by voice-recognition software.

Say them both fast. They sound a lot alike. The sounds /f/ and /p/ are very close, phonetically. As are the sounds /e/ (as in facial) and /E/ (as in special -- I don't have the proper phonetic symbol here).
