Pantless woman left daughter in car after crash

Police in Youngwood said they are investigating after a woman crashed into a parked car and a pole over the weekend. The Youngwood fire chief said that witnesses said the woman, whose name hasn't been released, was driving erratically down Route 119 and crashed.

"We got called for a vehicle accident, a rear-end type collision. 911 had sent messages to us that the driver was fleeing the scene and wasn't dressed," said Lloyd Crago, Youngwood fire Chief. Brennan reported that a 7-year-old was inside the car at the time of the crash. Police said the driver was flown to a hospital and the child was unharmed.

Brennan spoke to witness Jeff Thiel, who said the woman drove the wrong way on Third Street before the crash. Thiel also said the woman wasn’t wearing pants and tried to run away from the crash scene, leaving the child in the car. "Some people that live right next to the accident seen what was going on and they stopped her and restrained her.

"They held her down until the firemen and the state police got there," said Thiel. So far, no charges have been filed. Police continue to investigate and are awaiting the results of a toxicology test. There is no word on her condition. The daughter was taken into the custody of Children and Youth Services.
