Peacock escapes zoo and finds perch on New York skyscraper

A peacock found itself in a rather perilous position in New York after making a bid for freedom from the zoo.



The male bird escaped from the city's Central Park Zoo, and perched on a fifth floor window ledge of a high-rise apartment building.

He drew a crowd of onlookers on posh Fifth Avenue, as he found himself stranded high above the street.

The zoo says it hopes the peacock will have the courage to drop from the window ledge and fly back home. If he doesn't, staff will go and retrieve him.
