Face tattoos help identify suspect with Samurai sword who fled during traffic stop

A 31-year-old man carrying a duffle bag with a Samuari-style sword was taken into custody by Pinal County sheriffs after a vehicle pursuit around the outskirts of Casa Grande. At about 10:30 a.m. on Monday, a Pinal County Sheriff's Office patrol deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of 1st Street and Jimmie Karr Boulevard in Casa Grande, according to a news release from Pinal County Sheriffs.

The driver appeared to cooperate by stopping, but as the deputy approached the vehicle on foot, the suspect fled, Pinal County Sheriffs say. A vehicle pursuit ensued along the outskirts of Casa Grande, but ended after the suspect led deputies into a residential area.

Based on records from the MVD and visible tattoos on the suspect's face, he was identified as 31-year-old Albert Tejeda of Casa Grande. Deputies used in-house data to assist looking in several locations, and eventually found Tejeda walking in the area of 2nd St. and Cameron Ave, the release states.

Deputies saw Tejeda carrying a duffle bag with a Samurai-style sword sticking out. He initially resisted commands from deputies to surrender, but after a K-9 unit was deployed, Tejeda submitted and was taken into custody without further incident. Tejeda was charged with Felony Flight from Pursuing Law Enforcement Vehicle and Misconduct involving Weapons/Prohibited Possessor stemming from previous felony convictions.
