Motorcyclist hospitalised after collision with urinal

A motorcyclist ended up in the hospital when he hit a stainless steel urinal on the Edens Expressway just past the Lake Cook Road southbound exit.

The urinal fell off a flatbed truck headed southbound on the Edens in the middle lane.

According to police, at 6:35 a.m. the motorcyclist switched from the left lane to the middle and struck the urinal laying in the road, causing him to fall off his motorcycle. He suffered a broken left ankle and was transported to Evanston Hospital.

The flatbed truck driver was cited with failure to secure load and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 26.
