Possibly assaulted man bit passing pet python

A man in the Californian city of Sacramento was arrested on animal cruelty charges after a witness told officers the suspect had just taken two large bites out of a live python, according to Sacramento police.

A call to the police department on Thursday originally came in reporting a person had been assaulted and was unresponsive.

Police arrived at the 3600 block of Marysville Boulevard - which is not where the assault suspect, David Senk, lives - to investigate the incident.

While police spoke with Senk, a witness told officers Senk had bitten his snake. Animal control came and took the python, which appears to be in bad condition, police said. Senk was then arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.
