While he was asleep, Hugh McGuinness' son kicked him in the groin. First he winced. Then he got an idea. A pair of pyjamas with a crotch protector.
"My son Cameron, who is now four, used to sleep in the bed with us. Basically, I thought it would be a good idea to have crotch protection in case he kicks in his sleep," Mr McGuiness said. He submitted his protected pyjamas to an inventor competition, hoping to have them made a reality and sold.

He won't find out whether his idea is destined to become a product until after the Project Inventor competition closes on September 16. "I would buy them," Mr McGuinness, 45, of Turramurra, Australia said.
"When I have mentioned it to other fathers, you could see the pain in their eyes. It can be funny, but it is painful when it happens." He is also considering developing a similar invention for men who carry their babies in a papoose."In that case, their feet are directly in line."
