Woman in Vietnam gives birth to two-headed baby girl

A woman gave birth on Wednesday to a two-headed baby girl in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang. The 35-year-old woman from Chau Thanh District, whose name was not revealed, was admitted to the Soc Trang General Hospital early on Wednesday.

After doctors discovered the baby had two heads, they conducted surgery to take it out. The 3.5-kilogram newborn was a bit weak after delivery but her condition stabilized with the help of respiratory.

She has two heads, two hearts, two spinal columns, two legs and one vagina. She has two arms if looked at from the front, but there is another one behind. The baby is the second child of her mother. Her family said the mother had ultrasound scans done during the pregnancy but doctors were not able to detect the two heads.

Instead, they detected two hearts and informed the family that the mother was having twins. On Thursday, the newborn was transferred to the Children's Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City.
