Little dog leads police officers on chase down busy road

An unusual police chase took place in Arizona on Wednesday when a little dog gave police the run-around on a freeway in Tempe.

Apparently the pooch was in the back of a car involved in a roll over accident. Freeing itself from the wreckage, the dog took off from the scene.

State officers eventually cornered the dog on a median and returned it to its owner. "You know when they slip out and they get into traffic it can cause a lot of problems, as with any live animals on the freeway.

"So really our concern is to get them to safety as well as keep the freeway moving and also keep it safe for everybody else out here driving," said Martin Bennett with the Arizona Department of Public Safety. There is no word on what caused the vehicle to roll over.

Being from Arizona - I'm glad our officers take the time to do this. They recognize the importance of pets to us. This isn't the first time I've heard of them going beyond normal expectations and taking the time to protect all of us. Cheers to our police!
