A jailed psychopath desperately tried to crush the skull of a paedophile in a bid to eat his brain, jurors heard on Friday. Psychiatrists said violent prisoner Lee Foye planned to brutally kill three of his fellow inmates, but gave up after being spotted savagely attacking Bob Coello. Foye, 27, who denies murder, said he was carrying a spoon so he could eat Coello's brain, Luton Crown Court was told.
But despite repeatedly stamping and jumping on the 44-year-old's head, he was unable to break the victim's skull. Armed with a spoon, he went into Coello's cell, and held the paedophile in a headlock until he passed out. He locked the door, and covered the narrow window with a piece of tissue paper.
Dr Joseph said: “He proceeded to stamp on his head with the intention of caving his skull in. He said blood was going everywhere, but the head wouldn't cave in. Although he had his spoon with him, he couldn't get into the head to eat the brain.” Jurors were told that in April and May this year, Foye had cut off both his ears in Wood Hill Prison.
But Dr Joseph said: “He's self harming in a way to portray himself as mentally ill.” Defence witness Dr Jonathan Shapero, forensic psychiatrist, who has dealt with Foye since October last year, said the accused had admitted the killing, and said he planned to target three inmates. Dr Shapero described Foye as 'extremely complex', and said he had referred him for assessment at Rampton Secure Hospital in Nottinghamshire.
