Firefighters rescue dog from icy river

The Fargo Fire Department of North Dakota responded to a report of a black Labrador retriever stuck in the icy Red River on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the dog in the water at the edge of the ice, trying but unable to get back to shore. Firefighters, wearing water rescue suits, quickly retrieved the Lab, named Jake.

The dog was turned over to the Fargo Police Department's Animal Control Unit, which returned Jake to its owner. The dog's owner said that Jake got away from him after an invisible barrier around the yard stopped working.

There were no injuries in the rescue effort, which was captured on a helmet camera worn by one of the firefighters.
