Man attacked four outside bar with cow's femur

Hawaii County police said a 45-year-old man injured four men, one seriously, with the thigh bone of a cow in a fight outside a Kailua-Kona bar on Saturday.

Gregory Haas of Kailua-Kona was charged with four counts of assault in connection with the fight outside a bar at 1:33 a.m. Saturday in the Gold Coast Business Center off Kaiwi Street.

One of the victims, a 40-year-old Kona man, was struck on the head and flown to The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu in critical condition. The next day his condition was upgraded to serious but stable, police said. A 25-year-old Kona man was treated at Kona Community Hospital for cuts to his head and was released.

Police said two men were hurt but did not require medical attention: a 65-year-old Kona man with a injured right forearm and a 49-year-old Kona man who had been struck on the back and was in pain. Haas was charged with one count of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault.
