Man jailed after 'overpowering odour of faeces' detected at McDonald's

When a deputy spoke to John Wescott Dickson Jr. at McDonald's, the deputy was greeted by a "strong" smell that many would consider unpleasant. The odour was of what the deputy believed to be faeces, according to recently released Martin County Sheriff's records.

The deputy encountered Dickson, 62, on Dec. 14 after going to a McDonald's in the 3600 block of Southeast Federal Highway in Stuart for a disturbance-related incident. Two witnesses said Dickson was asked to leave "due to his overpowering odour of faeces," a report states. One of the witnesses said Dickson grew angry and began yelling, spilling beverages and hitting tables.

The other witness said when Dickson went in the playground area, the adult customers got their kids and left because of Dickson's "disorderly behaviour." The witness said she told Dickson to leave several times, but he wouldn't. As the deputy arrested Dickson, the deputy noticed "brown streaks" on Dickson's jeans.

The deputy reported Dickson couldn't sign a trespass warning "due to having faeces on his hands and being in handcuffs," records state. Dickson, listed as homeless, was arrested on misdemeanor charges including disorderly conduct and trespass after warning.
