Murderer's mother headbutted police officer and threw used tampon at her

The mother of a convicted teenage murderer threw a used tampon at a police officer. Sandra Green, from Sleaford, was arrested on October 16 after police were called to an incident in Boundary Street, Lincoln. Green and husband Dan Morris were reported to have been causing problems in the south of the city before fleeing the area by car. After seeing Mr Morris arrested, Green reacted with a flurry of verbal abuse and was arrested herself. A van was called to transport her to Lincoln Police station and it was then she headbutted one of the female officers.

After arriving in custody, Green was taken to a cell where she lashed out before throwing a used tampon in the direction of the officer. Marie Stace, prosecuting, said: "Officers were trying to search Mrs Green when she kicked out. An officer felt her shoulder pop. As a result she had to see a doctor who diagnosed muscular discomfort. At the initial arrest, the officers could tell she was drunk as soon as she got out of the car. She was unsteady on her feet and her eyes were blood shot. Sandra soon became verbally abusive. Her behaviour became so disorderly that she was arrested."

Green is the mother of Aiden Jackson who was sentenced to life in prison after murdering pensioner David Cowley earlier this year. Liz Hart, defending, said: "This is a most unattractive course of events but there are a number of reasons why Mrs Green was so distressed that night. Obviously there was the amount of alcohol she consumed. It was the first time in a long time that she had drank alcohol. Mrs Green has had a traumatic time with watching her son being taken away in handcuffs.

"When she saw the same happen to her husband so soon after, she reacted badly. She is also the major carer to her father, who has two incurable illnesses. He only lives by himself at night. With a seven-year-old child to look after and currently relying on benefits, this underpins why she did what she did. She doesn't like herself when she is like this and her remorse is very genuine." Green, who pleaded guilty to all three charges – drunk and disorderly in a public place, assault on a constable and assault on a person assisting the constable – was sentenced to 12 months community service and ordered to pay £150 compensation.
