Wife asks for divorce on road sign

A fed-up wife announced to her husband she wanted a divorce — by stringing up a massive banner near to one of Britain's busiest motorways. The woman, known only as Jude, put the enormous sign up yesterday making the shocking demand to her husband, known only as Dan.

The message, daubed in black and festive red paint, reads "For Xmas Dan, Jude wants a divorce". The upset wife was thought to have acted close to the M4 on the outskirts of Reading, Berks, after losing patience with her other half.



A neighbour living close to the scene on Whitley Wood Road, where it was placed, said it was the talk of the town. He said: "It's hilarious to think this man's wife has gone to these lengths.

"She has obviously just had enough and wanted to vent her frustration in public. You normally see birthday banners or wedding anniversaries up at the roadside, but I can't say I've ever seen one for a divorce."
