A Dingle woman who admitted biting another woman on the head during a row on the street has been ordered to pay her victim €600 in compensation before the end of April 2012.
Linda O'flaherty of 44 The Grove, Dingle pleaded guilty to the assault at Dingle District Court in Ireland, where her solicitor, Pat Mann, outlined that the event was 'the last instalment of a dying regime of alcohol.' Mr Mann said that alcohol is at the base of all Ms O'flaherty's problems, and said that she has since received treatment for alcohol abuse and is continuing aftercare treatment in Tralee.
Referring to a number of previous convictions, including one for assault and a number of public order offences, he said that Ms O'flaherty had a lot of difficulties in the past, which she has now resolved. Inspector Jim O'connor said the incident occurred at 3am on July 4, 2010, when Ms O'flaherty was seen in a confrontation with another young woman at Spa Road.
She accused the other woman of not saying hello to her and then grabbed her, before both fell to the ground. After a scuffle, Ms O'flaherty bit the other woman on top of the head. The injured woman also appeared in court and told Judge James O'connor that her injuries had completely healed and she was not suffering any long term effects. He ordered that Ms O'flaherty pay €600 in compensation before April 27.

By April of next year, 600 Euros should be just about enough to buy a quart of milk.
Hold on. That's the same solicitor as in the story about Deaglan Ó Muiris and his donkey from a few days back. How many solicitors do they have in Dingle?
