Firefighters discovered an unconscious Chihuahua on Wednesday morning inside an East County mobile home full of heavy smoke.
The owner of the mobile home escaped the fire at Lynnwood West Mobile Home Estates in El Cajon at around 11 a.m., but the owner's dog "Mojo" was stuck inside, City of El Cajon spokeswoman Monica Zech said.

Firefighter Brendan Saffer found Mojo unconscious and pulled him out of the mobile home. Heartland Fire and Rescue paramedic Travis Timmins used a paediatric oxygen mask to resuscitate the tiny dog, Zech said.
Animal control officers transported the dog to Broadway Animal Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation. The damage to the mobile home is estimated at $40,000, which is considered a total loss, according to Zech. Mojo is expected to make a full recovery.

I'm always so happy when I see firefighters help save the family fur member. For very often, that little guy is all the human has for a family. It's not just the right thing to do, it is sound public policy, too.
