A Novgorod Region court on Friday sentenced a 30-year-old woman to three-and-a-half years prison for poisoning her little son to death by nursing him when drunk, a regional Prosecutor General's aide said.
Investigators say that on May 4 Marina Shnip drunk about a litre of porto and the concentration of ethanol in her blood reached 2 - 2.5 percent. Then Shnip twice nursed her two-week old baby.
The baby died from poisoning soon after. Analysis showed that the concentration of ethanol in the baby's blood was 0.4 percent.
The woman admitted guilt.

Very sad. How can people be so stupid/uncaring?
I'm amazed she survived with 2% blood alcohol! >0.5% is supposed to be fatal. Gripe water had a heck of a lot of booze in it and kept kids quiet -no prizes for guessing why.
I don't believe this. None of the numbers make any sense at all.
