Furious homeowners are suing builders in southern China after they pulled down their apartment block while they were out to reduce a massive compensation claim.
Residents in the block in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, had been demanding £75,000 a head to move out and make way for a multi-million pound development.
But after waiting for everyone to leave their homes for work, the builders simply dug out the block's foundations and waited for it to topple over.
"Now they want to pay us less than a third of what we were going to get because the property is a wreck, even though they're the one who wrecked it," said one angry apartment owner. A spokesman for the developer claimed: "This property was clearly in a very poor condition. The foundations were so flimsy it fell over all by itself."
