A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after police found him with his arm stuck in the letterbox of a house in west Belfast early on Thursday. He was arrested at about 04:10 GMT after being spotted by a police patrol in Margaretta Crescent.
Firefighters had to detach the letterbox from the door and the teenager was then taken to Lisburn PSNI station where it was removed. He is being questioned on suspicion of attempted burglary and other offences.
The woman who lives in the house had been staying at her daughter's overnight. "It was four o'clock in the morning and the police just happened to see this guy kneeling down at the door and they went up to investigate," she said.
"He said he was going into a party, but he couldn't get his hand out, so they phoned Lisburn police and fire brigade to get his hand out. So I was pretty lucky that he got his hand stuck in the door. But if my dog hadn't been away he'd have got his hand chopped off, because Jasper wouldn't let anybody in."

Years ago someone broke the pane of glass in our front door and tried to undo the latch from the inside. Unfortunately for them our dalmatian thought this was a great game. She bit the arm that was coming through and tugged at it. Due to said arm being surrounded by broken glass there was a fair amount of blood, but no burglary.
Heh heh!
