Under 8's football match in Poland abandoned after crowd trouble

An under 8's indoor football match in Poland came to a premature end after crowd trouble forced the referee to abandon the game.

In an incident that raises the profile of football hooliganism just months before Poland co-hosts the European Championships, drunk fans of Polish first-division club Lech Poznan set off flares and threw streamers in the sports hall that had been hired by a supporters association linked to the same club.

“They were drunk, banged drums and fired flares,” said one parent. “At one point the smoke was so bad you couldn’t breathe.” Police were called and our now investigating the incident.

The trouble came just days after hooligans in Gdansk attacked the members of a children’s team belonging to a rival club in an incident that shocked a country well accustomed to incidents of football hooliganism.

Flog these self-styled "hooligans" in the public square a few times and the asshattery will come screeching to a halt, I assure you.
