Mockingbirds will attack anything. I've been having the "mockingbird at midnight" thing for a few weeks now, but it's quieter now as they seem to be brooding.
Usual mockingbird song around here includes car horns, sirens, car alarms, and the reverse alarm on the garbage truck. Lady mockingbirds love that, and do the car horns back to their new true loves.

We have a mockingbird that does this for several weeks every spring. We decided he doesn't like that other bird encroaching on his nesting space.
