Astonished customs officials discovered a baby Caiman crocodile taped to a motorist's thigh after seeing his crotch twitching when they searched his car in Basel, Switzerland.
The 25 inch long croc - which will one day measure up at more than 8ft long - was being held in place by lengths of gaffa tape when officials ordered the driver to undergo a strip search.
"He's lucky we got to him first. The crocodile had already bitten through the tape around his little, but very sharp, teeth and he was probably very hungry," said one customs officer. Wildlife experts are now caring for the croc at nearby Lausanne Vivarium, which specialises in reptiles.
Director Michael Ansermat said: "We have three young caimans at the moment, all confiscated from traffickers. They are kept in truly appalling conditions by the people who are transporting them." Customs police say a motorist is now facing animal trafficking charges.
