Police arrest naked man riding unicycle

Police arrested a naked man who was riding a unicycle over a bridge in Southeast Texas. Kemah police said calls started coming in to the police station at about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

When an officer spotted the man on the bridge, he was riding his unicycle without any clothing. Police said Joseph Farley took off his clothes at the foot of the bridge. Officers have seen Farley, 45, on the bridge for several weeks riding his unicycle clothed.

"He said that he liked the way that it felt. Really don't know what he meant by that, but that's what he said," said Kemah Police Chief Greg Rikard. "The officer kept his distance as best he could. Obviously he wasn't armed, that we could tell. We did what we could do. Turned him around and moved him off to the side of the vehicle to get him out of the view of the public.

Farley was charged with indecent exposure. Police said he was not intoxicated or impaired. His bond was set at $1,500. Farley told police he is a former teacher who lives in the Clear Lake area. "One of the officers mentioned this will probably be my first and only time that I stopped a naked man from operating a unicycle over the Kemah Bridge," Rikard said. Kemah is approximately 30 miles southeast of Houston.

Who would think that Texas would be so conservative as to frown on naked cycling?
