Aberdeen woman, Stacey Summers, 25, who gave up alcohol for a month and persuaded her friends to join her, has spoken of the experience.
Stacey, whose dad Gavin passed away after battling an alcohol-related illness, said: “I struggled. I really, really did. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be.”

This made the news? Oh...right...it's Scotland. That is big news there.
I once gave up booze for ten months. As a result I seldom drink now. For me drinking is now about the taste or maybe, as the spanish would say, la chispa. It's not about getting drunk.
A friend stopped drinking the same day as me, and never started again. That was over ten years ago.
In countries where extreme intoxication is not the prime driver for drinking this would not be news. In Britain however most people see drinking simply as a means to get totally wankered and therefore this is news.
I have given up alcohol forever. Well, we'll see how that goes. So far, it's been two years.
Slow news day in Aberdeen, I see.
I gave up alcohol at 11pm last night. I'm pretty certain I can make it until 9pm this evening. Maybe. It'll be tough, but I'll let you know how it goes...
I've given up alcohol because I find heroin so much more satisfying. It's hard to cook with, however.
I gave up alcohol for six months when I was dating a straight edge guy. Eventually I had to dump him.
