Police discovered a man who had been banned from seeing a woman hiding in a cupboard at the pub where she worked. Jamie Oliver had been under a restraining order preventing him from seeing Sheridan Walsh until September next year.
But Derby Crown Court heard that the 35-year-old visited her at the pub where she worked, in January. Karen Davenport-Coles, prosecuting, said that Oliver, of Magellan Way, Derby, had been asked by Miss Walsh to visit him. She said: "Miss Walsh had phoned him and invited him to go to the address.
"He knew he would be in breach of his order but went anyway. When he got to the pub, they kissed and cuddled but later started arguing." Police were called to the pub at about 3.30am after the argument escalated. Miss Davenport-Coles said that officers searched the premises and found Oliver hiding in a cupboard. He was then arrested.
Justine Robinson, in mitigation, said Oliver was willing to comply with any order the court wished to impose. But Judge Ebraham Mooncey said Miss Walsh had asked for another restraining order not to be placed. He sentenced Oliver to a 12-month community order and a 12-month supervision order.
