Outrage over duck advertising itself as very tasty

This unlucky duck had to sell itself at a market in eastern China after its owner put a sign round its neck saying how tasty he'd be to eat.

The sign, seen at the farmers' fair in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, said: "I am a local duck, from the countryside and very good to eat."



But animal lovers cried fowl play when critics said it was "barbaric" to expect the bird to sell itself.

"I only put the sign around the duck's neck because there have been lots of scandals about poisoned meat coming from other parts of China," explained its owner Wen Li. "The duck can't read and doesn't know he's going to be eaten," he added.
