A family in Benton Harbor, Michigan wants to find the person who took their dog. Adriana Perez says someone took her Husky, Aspen, from her family's yard.
She also says the thief left a note explaining why. Perez says the dognapper said she was abusing Aspen by leaving him in a house in the backyard. The note said dogs are pack animals that need to be around other dogs and humans, that dogs get lonely in a pen.
"To leave a letter, it was a slap in the face," she said and then read from the letter, "I wanted to write to you and explain to you why we took your dog. Sincerely, someone who loves all dogs."

Perez says county animal control officials had been by to check on Aspen over the course of two years but didn't find any neglect or abuse.

I can't say I disagree with any points of this letter. If you bought a dog and use it to guard your property or simply to eat it thats one thing.. It has a purpose, just a necessarily sad one. But to supposedly buy it as a pet and then just leave it to exist solely as your posession.. sucks to be that dog. I hope whoever nicked it has it running about with another dog or up sitting on their sofa when they watch TV.
Shame on anyone who neglects their dog by penning and forgetting it. Interesting that animal control has had to check on the poor dog twice. I have no sympathy for the owners, and hope the dog will finally have a better life.
I applaud the letter writer. That poor dog surely has a better life now.
Well I am glad everyone here agrees that dog and every dog deserves better than a back yard prison.
At first I was outraged that someone stole this woman's dog, but reading more it seems it was just locked up in the backyard. I got into a huge fight with a friend as a small child that left a permanent rift (we were like 10 and didn't speak to each again) about her parents caging their dog in a wire pen in the yard. I really don't see the point. At that point you can't even claim it's guarding your property.
Also about 10 years ago I had a job working for this woman that was running a business out of her house selling devices for the hearing impaired, clocks with GIANT text, mobility aids, etc. She had a Beagle and a Golden Retriever both caged indoors in cages so small they could JUST barely turn around. When I suggested she let them out she refused and became very indignant. I used to let them out whenever she went to run errands. Should have called animal control. Still feel bad about that.
I think it's a bunch of bull that someone takes another persons dog. It don't matter what you think. You have no right at all to just take someones dog like that. your just another one of those dam animal rights people that needs to get their dam head examined.
