Police officers sold a video games console without realising its carry case contained a wad of cannabis. The Sony PSP, complete with the drug, fetched £21.50 on an online auction site.
The carry case had been handed in as lost property. Warehouse manager Daniel Ford, 33, placed the winning bid and later received the console in the post — with the cannabis. He said: “It was strange that the police didn’t open up the compartments of the carry case and look inside. I found a pair of headphones and the cannabis, which smelled strongly.”
Daniel, of Monmouth, South Wales, bought the white PSP on Bumblebee Auctions. The eBay-style website is used by police forces to sell property seized from criminals or for which no rightful owner can be found.
In the item’s description, Nottinghamshire Police wrote: “Sony PSP with case. Not tested. Average condition.” It was being held at Mansfield Police Station and bidding started at £1. A police spokeswoman said: “We are glad this has been highlighted to us. We will speaking to officers and staff members who dealt with the item.”

Yes I am sure that the PSP was in "average condition" as a great many game-playing youths these days do indeed play their games whilst smoking some Cannabis.
Now whilst Cannabis is a fine and pleasant intoxicant for responsible adults, and indeed an invaluable medicine for many, it is not really a good idea for the young developing mind to be using intoxicants of any kind. This story shows up one of the major failures of prohibition...
under a strict prohibition regime we have found that supply to under-age consumers is greatly increased whilst in other countries with a more enlightened policy of regulated supply they have found that they are able to far more easily stop the supply of Cannabis to youngsters.
the possession of a sony psp isn't definite proof that it belonged to a teenager, i'm 27 and the only reason i don't have one is the fact that i have a smart phone and a laptop, and the guy that bought it from the police is 33, though i agree that prohibition only increases the likelyhood that teenagers could obtain cannabis.

Seconded. As a friend of mine once said, "You shouldn't try to f-ck with your mind until you have a mind to f-ck with."
@Steve Hilton: Absolutely, we can all see how incredibly hard it is to get hold of alcohol..oh wait
