Man receives cheque for over £2,400 after attempted citizen's arrest of Tony Blair for war crimes

Back in June, 29-year-old Tom Grundy, a Briton living in Hong Kong, walked towards Tony Blair a few minutes into an address at Hong Kong University (HKU) with the intention of apprehending him for alleged offences connected to the Iraq war.

To his surprise, Mr Grundy was not bundled away by Blair's guards or campus security and eventually left after the police, who he hoped would assist in arresting Blair, failed to arrive. He was not arrested.

Mr Grundy has now received a cheque for £2,420.89 awarded as a bounty from George Monbiot’s arrestblair.org campaign.

The sum will be converted to Hong Kong dollars and donated to: The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, Democracy Now!, West Sahara Resource Watch, Students for Justice in Palestine National Conference and others.
