Cross-dresser threw plate of food across cafe after complaint his testicles were on show

A cross-dressing man threw a plate of food across a cafe after a customer complained his testicles were showing under his skimpy outfit, a court has heard.

Richard Bentley, 36, told his critic, “I have a right to wear what I like,” before hurling his plate, which just missed hitting a cafe worker on the head in July.

Bentley then locked himself inside a staff area, refusing to come out because he was so upset, Bristol JPs heard. Prosecuting, Christopher Holland said: “He felt he was being insulted.”

Homeless Bentley, who attended court in a black mini dress, lace tights and furry boots, admitted criminal damage at The Wild Goose Cafe in St Paul’s, Bristol. He will be sentenced later over the charge, plus two unrelated offences.
