Man stopped by police for driving with TV cabinet strapped to his car bonnet

A man was stopped by police after he was spotted driving in Salisbury, south Australia, with a TV cabinet strapped to his car bonnet. The incident happened on Thursday, September 13, at 3.40pm. Police Superintendent David O'Donovan said the driver's actions were "dangerous and absolutely ridiculous''.

"While the picture itself might seem humorous, this could easily have ended in tragedy with someone seriously injured or killed if the cabinet had come off while driving,'' Supt O'Donovan said.

"Not to even mention the fact that the driver simply could not see what was in front of him, which is generally fairly important when you are driving. The risks posed to occupants of the vehicle and anyone else who happened to be in the near vicinity are enormous.

"People need to stop and think and please put safety first at all times when driving.'' The driver was issued with an expiation notice for driving without having a clear view of the road.
