Waddling gunman wearing yellow beak mask hunted over armed robbery

A robber who wore a yellow beak mask and walked like a duck is being hunted by police. The armed raider threatened the manageress with a shotgun before waddling out of the shop. Detectives hunting the man have released CCTV footage of the incident in the hope the public will recognise his funny walk.

Nottinghamshire Police said the footage of last November's robbery in Mansfield showed the offender was intent on terrifying staff, including a woman who was forced to cower underneath the counter. The CCTV clip was recorded at around 9.20pm on November 9 after the man walked into the William Hill branch in the Ladybrook Place shopping precinct.

A £10,000 reward is on offer for information which leads to the successful prosecution of the gunman, whose imitation firearm was found dumped under a pile of tyres a mile from the scene. It is believed that the man, who had a local accent, is between 5ft 7in and 5ft 9in tall.

He was wearing a dark coat with a hooded top, dark trousers and a cream or yellow mask, which had a beak. Detective Sergeant Stuart Temple, who is leading the investigation, said: "I want to hear from anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV footage or the weapon used. I also want to speak to anyone who was in the area on the night of the attack."
