Wife shot husband to protect family cat

A Texas woman made one thing very clear on Tuesday morning – don’t mess with her cats. She shot her husband in the stomach after he threatened to shoot one of her beloved pets, according to deputy constables.

Audrey Deen Miller, 42, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Deputies said Miller and her husband were arguing at their home in Spring at around 7:30 a.m. when he threatened to shoot her cat with a pellet gun. Miller, an animal lover with several cats and dogs, pulled out a .40-calibre semi-automatic handgun and shot her husband in the stomach.

“The husband was trying to do something to the cat and the wife was just trying to protect her cat,” said Assistant Chief Mark Herman. Miller was arrested at the scene and her husband was transported tohospital in stable condition. The cat was not harmed.

Right on, Mrs. Miller!

What Michele said! Of course, it's possible she made that up so the authorities would go easier on her, but if it's true, bravo. Also, she should have changed her story to "he was threatening to shoot me and my property, the cats, and I didn't have time to call you first." --A.

Myself, even though I am a animal lover with a dog and 3 cats, I wouldn't see human life as that cheap.
She in my opinion is either mentally unstable or a danger to society.

@SteveC--this happened in Texas, probably the most gun-loving state in the gun-loving United States. She's not mentally unstable--she's a Texan.

@Barbwire-- I just loved your thought!

I would've stood up for my cat too. If I had one. The stomach is just a little too drastic, probably the thigh.
