A search and rescue team in West Yorkshire were called to rescue a goat after it had apparently become stranded on a rocky ledge, but after three hours of trying to free the animal, the goat simply jumped to safety without any help.
Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team scrambled nine volunteers to the rural hillside after villagers reported the animal, a local mascot they call "Black Rock Billie", had been "stuck" on a ledge for up to five days.

Rescuers lowered a rope down the hill to reach the goat, but as they got within touching distance of Billie she unexpectedly jumped onto nearby rocks and leapt ten feet down into a field. Onlookers cheered as Billie trotted away unscathed.
A Calder Valley team spokesman said: "The police were worried that a local samaritan might befall some harm in an attempt to rescue Billie so we agreed to turn out to help. Billie appears to be none the worse for her ordeal, much to the relief of her local admirers."

Didn't look to me that the goat was in a place where it couldn't have gotten down on it's own in the first place.Goats do that sort of thing ya know.
It's a goat, no human being should be putting themselves at risk to "rescue" a goat and if some local "samaritan" did befall harm, hell mend them. IT'S A GOAT.
The goat looked quite pleased with its perch until some daft meatbag came down on a string and got a bit too close for comfort. I suspect they were just lucky it didn't hop up and eat their rope.
