Unofficial sign at ford warns Sat Nav users

An unofficial sign erected at Headley Ford warns motorists of the possible dire consequences of following Sat Nav instructions to cross the ford, which was closed earlier this year, following a fatality.

The sign, erected on a depth gauge marker at the Hampshire side of the ford, states: “Idiots with twatnavs, meet thy doom” .

The ford which straddles the Hampshire/Berkshire border in Thornford Road, Headley, was closed throughout the summer and as winter weather approaches, remains closed.

The ford was closed following the death of mental health tribunal judge Jonathan Gammon, aged 52, who died in May, after the car his wife was driving was swept away in the swollen River Enborne at the ford while 'following a Sat Nav'.

There's a big difference between "crossing a ford" (sliding across the hood of the car) and "crossing a fjord" (wet stuff). Are you sure you didn't mean the latter?

The actual story called it a Ford. So if Arbroath did it, then it was merely a copy.
