Woman denies ownership of marijuana hidden in her genitals

A Florida woman is accused of smuggling marijuana into jail by hiding it in her genitals. She told authorities she has nothing to do with the drug because she's a medical student on a scholarship, and was trying to keep her friends from getting in trouble.

Vida Golac, 18, of Golden Gate Estates, was arrested by Naples police officers on Thursday. An officer stopped the car Golac was riding in with two others after seeing it drifting it between lanes. During a search of the car, the officer found marijuana in the back of the car near where Golac sat.

Golac said the drug wasn't hers because she's a medical student, and asked the officer to check with the other passengers to see if it was theirs, reports said. The other two passengers denied ownership and were allowed to leave while Golac was arrested.

On the way to the Naples Jail Center, Golac told the officer who arrested her he was "ruining her life" and she would now lose her scholarship — "all for something that wasn't hers." However, jail deputies discovered additional marijuana in Golac's genitals during a strip search. Golac said she was trying to protect the others from getting in trouble.

Seems legit. My girlfriend lost her phone once and it wasn't til I gave it a ring that she realised just exactly where she'd left it...

She's not smart enough to be a doctor. I'm not buying the medical student excuse. Pre-med, maybe, but hardly a bonafide medical student on a scholarship to a real medical school, in the MD program.

I think if she really were a med student, she could have come up with a much more imaginative excuse. Because her friends hung her out to dry. Why protect them?

If they run a simple blood test they can see if she really uses MJ, and use that as the basis for whether her story is even believable.

Plus, unless she is some kind of atypical superachieving genius, she isn't in medical school at age 18. She's only old enough to be starting undergrad.

This is what the jail deputy said to her during the strip search:

Oh, sure - makes you wonder what else she might have stashed in there too?

Wonder how many "notes to self" this story inspired.

On another note, it reminds me of those rare occasions when I'm searching for my glasses only to subsequently find them on my head. Perhaps she had been wondering just where the heck that stash was...

Hilarious.

Public shaming, life ruined, because a young girl tries to hide a completely harmless substance in her body out of desperation.

I feel so much safer now!

The driver was set free, so apparently he didn't exhibit any abnormal behavior. So what was the reason for the search?

This ... war on drugs is a war on our own people

Some laws really have nothing to do with public safety.
