Alleged car thieves ran into police station in bid to evade officers

Two alleged car thieves have been arrested after running into Bromley police station in south London whilst trying to escape police.

Officers spotted a car which had earlier been reported stolen from Petts Wood on Friday evening, being driven in Mottingham at around 2.45am on Saturday.

The vehicle failed to stop for police and was pursued into the Bromley South area where it turned into an unnamed dead-end slip road by Bromley police station. In an attempt to flee from officers, the occupants got out the car and ran into the station's front office where they were immediately arrested.

A 17-year-old boy from Mottingham and a 14-year-old boy from Lewisham have been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and various driving offences. They have been bailed and are due to appear at Bromley Youth Court on December 4.
