World record bid thwarted by uppity police officer

Liz Baldwin, a first-year design student at Goldsmiths University in London decided to break a world record. She decided to draw the fastest mile-long unbroken chalk line. Apparently the world record for drawing the fastest unbroken mile-long chalk line is an hour and 20 minutes.

Contains the odd sweary word.

Liz set out to break that record, scrabbling on her hands and knees through the streets of east London. Along the way she encountered curious shopkeepers and encouraging passers-by, dodged dogs and traffic. But just as she was on the verge of making history, up stepped a distinctly unimpressed Metropolitan police officer who cruelly put an end to the fun, dismissing her endeavours thusly: "There's no real need for it."

It's been ruled by the courts that there's nothing illegal in kids drawing hopscotch squares or other drawings so long as they're not offensive, upon the public footpaths.
This is an example of a police officer who is enforcing a non existent statute on the grounds that he thinks such action should be forbidden.
Sadly, part of our world these days.

That said, it's an 'unofficial record'? Like holding peeled grapes with your eyebrows? Oh no. that's 'official'.
I just created a world record for kicking my shoe into the far corner of the room. I didn't record the time, but I think I may be able to beat that record in time.
Art project?
prepare for a macjob, girls, if that's the best you can come up with.
