Dhaou Fatnassi, 20, from El Baten, a settlement near the northeastern city of Kairouan, bet with a group of friends that he would be able to eat 30 raw eggs for an undisclosed sum of money.
The man then experienced strong stomach pains and was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The cause of his death is yet to be established.
