Barking dogs led to knife attack and lawn defecation

A 57-year-old Australian man has been charged after allegedly trying to break into his neighbour's house, failing and then defecating on his lawn. The man allegedly armed himself with two knives and tried to force his way into the neighbour's home in Narrandera, New South Wales, shortly before 8pm on Monday night.

While he was unable to get into the home, a door was damaged. Then, police say, it got even messier. The man is accused of relieving his bowels on the front lawn of his neighbour's property. Police responded to the neighbourhood dispute and when they arrived, they found the accused still on the front lawn with his knives.



He was arrested without incident. Inspector Tony Reneker from the Griffith Local Area Command said the situation could easily have escalated with dire consequences. "Had the (alleged) offender been able to gain entry to the house there may well have been a tragic outcome," Inspector Reneker said.

It is understood the incident erupted following a dispute over barking dogs. Richardo Marks, 57, was refused bail at Griffith Local Court after he was charged with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, intimidation and malicious damage. He will now appear in Wagga Local Court.
