Zoo offers opportunity to go paddling with platypus

A unique experience at Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria, Australia is proving a real hit.

The animal centre has launched a new attraction where visitors can go paddling with a platypus.

Visitors can now pull on a pair of waders and step into the shallow end of the platypus play pool.

Two platypus presentations have also been introduced in the sanctuary to showcase the nocturnal mammals to the public.

I thought they were poisonous

They're venomous, not poisonous. Also, that's only the males. But being caught by a platypus barb is described as excruciatingly painful. I hope they're good at sexing their critters before inviting people to pay money to wade with them.
