Kind lady cares for orphaned bats

Trish Wimberley of the Australian bat clinic and wildlife trauma centre looks after hundreds of orphaned baby bats and rears them until they can be released into the wild.

They really are cute until they unfold their wings. Can't help feeling an involuntary shudder, though for no good reason. Bats are one of the most loathed and maligned creatures on Earth, though they have an important place in the ecosystem-- from pollinating flowers to insect control-- and their numbers are declining. Nice work, that. Maybe videos like this will help us all get to know and feel less fear about them?
