A thief who targeted young clubbers in a popular Manchester nightspot was found with more than 40 mobile phones stashed down his trousers.
Dozens of people were the victim of pickpocket Iulian Cojocaru at Warehouse Project in Trafford Park. Club bosses were tipped off that a number of revellers had lost their phones – and arranged for police to search everyone leaving the venue.
They were astonished to find Cojocaru, 28, with 44 phones stashed in a pair of lycra cycling shorts under his trousers. His haul included an array of smartphones including iPhones, Androids and Blackberrys.
Cojocaru, of Madison Court, Dagenham, was arrested and charged with 25 counts of theft. He pleaded guilty to the charges at Trafford magistrates court on Monday and will be sentenced at the crown court later this month.
