Gangnam Style defence fails in groping case

A drunk clubber who claimed he groped two young women by mistake while dancing Gangnam Style has been put on the sex offenders’ register.

Derek Kerr, 36, touched one victim’s breast, giving her “quite a fright”, then put his hand up another woman’s dress and rubbed her thigh. The IT support worker said he hadn’t meant to touch either woman.

It had happened while he was doing the “horse-riding moves” from Korean rapper PSY’s novelty hit at The Gig in Blairgowrie. Kerr, of Rattray, Perthshire, told the court: “The Gangnam Style song was on and I was doing the horse-riding moves, as well as jumping up and down.”

But Perth sheriff Eric Brown found him guilty of persistently grinding his body against his victims, now aged 20 and 19. He was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work. He will also be supervised for six months and has been put on the register, also for six months.
