Man rescued after getting arm trapped in mangle

A man from central China was rescued by firefighters after his right arm became stuck in a mangle in an industrial laundry room.

The man from Jingzhou, central China's Hubei Province, got his right arm stuck between two rollers in the mangle and could not free himself. Firefighters first used a hydraulic clamp to cut out the axles but the man still could not get his arm out.

After careful examination, the rescue team decided to cut all the steel rollers off. At the same time, they put a crowbar in to stop the cut-off rollers from falling onto the arm, preventing further injury. After one painfully long hour, the man was rescued.

Doctors and nurses treated him before rushing him to hospital. The man was working alone when the accident happened. He was not badly hurt and is currently being treated.

He's incredibly lucky he's not badly hurt..

One of the engineers in a bank I worked at was working on a DeLaRue note sorter; these things are about 10ft long and sort tens of millions of pounds an hour. He had the case off and the safety disengaged. His hand got caught between the rollers and every bone was pulverised. Even now it's just meat on the end of his wrist.

Remember kids, safety interlocks are there for a reason.

Didn't Stephen King write a story about this?
