On Wednesday, the High Court in Edinburgh heard that one of the girls was aged between 15 and 16 when she first met Wilson in 2008. She only discovered the truth when a girl from Stonehaven emailed her a copy of Wilson's passport. She then ended the relationship.
The second girl was 15 when she became friends with Wilson two years later, after being introduced to her at an amusement park. She told Wilson she was 16 and they later slept with each other. It was the first time she had had sexual contact with anyone. Wilson had ended the relationship by the time police visited the girl and told her she was a woman. The court heard the girl described Wilson as her "true love."
Defence advocate Shelagh McCall told the court that her client has gender identity disorder. She stated that her client is hoping to undergo gender reassignment therapy at some point in the future. Wilson will be sentenced next month after Lord Bannatyne ordered for report on the case.

Hm - a few ways. Arbroath - that's a very likely one. Young girls who are sexually inexperienced are not so good at questioning.
@Brixter, have you seen "Boys Don't Cry," or read the book it's based on - "All She Wanted"? Both are based on the story of Brandon Teena, a young transgendered man (born female), who had a somewhat similar experience, although he was younger, and closer in age to his partners. The book describes how he dealt with that issue without anyone noticing.
Also....there ARE more ways to have sex than the old penis-in-vagina way, even in a man-woman pairing. So a partner might say that he doesn't want to have intercourse yet, but they can still do other things....(I am feeling very awkward, and did not anticipate going into such details on this most beloved site, but...if it leads to greater understanding, then yay).
Also, the story of Brandon Teena had a horrible, horrible ending. Incredibly sad and awful. And I've heard of other similar stories since then. I honestly do feel badly for the women who clearly have issues around gender identity, and maybe are so insecure around it that they are focusing on young teens, but definitely not okay to prey on kids, whether you're male or female. Or to lie to them.
I think that in the U.S., the age of consent varies from state to state, but I think that in general, there's a line between over-18 and under-18 and crossing that = statutory rape. Regardless of gender. Not sure what the laws are in Scotland.

There was recent case in England where a girl took on three completely different male identities almost simultaneously.
