Britain’s shortest double yellow lines have appeared on a city’s streets – measuring just thirteen inches long.
Cambridge County Council has painted two sets of the tiny lines on Humberstone Road, beating the previous record of 17 inches.
The lines are shorter than the width of an average car wheel yet motorists are still being warned they face a £70 fine if they park on them. They have been put at the end of disabled parking bays to make sure drivers don’t encroach on them.
Cambridgeshire County Council said: “This is common practice. The yellow lines are at either end of a disabled parking bay and are there to prevent vehicles parked either side from encroaching on the disabled bay.”

Open letter to Cambridge Council.
Here's a crazy idea...... make the disabled bays 13 inches longer at each end??

Heh heh, that's far too obvious a solution!
